WhatsApp verification without your real number: a step-by-step guide
Testing an integration, running a second account, or just avoiding another spam vector — here's the exact flow.
WhatsApp — like most apps — asks for a phone number before it asks for anything else. That's fine if you're setting up your own primary line. It's a different situation if you're testing an integration, running a secondary business line, or just don't want another app holding your real number.
The flow
- From the dashboard, open the service picker and search "WhatsApp."
- Rent a number — you'll see the price and a countdown for the rental window.
- Enter the rented number into WhatsApp's own signup flow, exactly as WhatsApp displays it.
- Request the code from WhatsApp, then check back on your DiceSMS rental — the code appears there as soon as it's received.
- Enter the code into WhatsApp. Done.
If nothing arrives
Some destination services occasionally reject rented numbers at their own discretion, independent of DiceSMS. If a code never arrives within the rental window, you're not charged for that rental — see our pay-only-on-success post for exactly how that works.
